Broadchurch was filmed on Dorset's stunning Jurassic coast, with the cliffs of West Bay setting the perfect back drop to ITV's murder mystery which started in March 2013 and has had two further series screened since then.
An all star cast including David Tennant and Olivia Colman had to solve the murder of a local 11 year old boy, which wracks the local community with suspicions, suspects and who dunit. The police investigation combined with national media has devastating effects on Broadchurch, as well as exposing Alex Harding’s (David Tennant) own secrets. The series used West Bay to flaunt our beautiful Jurassic coast beaches, coastal paths and cliffs. Perfectly situated amongst these natural wonders is the Bridport Arms Hotel. Whilst filming Broadchurch we had many members of the cast and crew stay in the Bridport Arms Hotel including the lovely Pauline Quirk with her own gorgeous labrador, Bailey. As they filmed Broadchurch over several months to capture the different seasons, it was great to see first hand the time, effort and acting unravel in our seaside towns and villages including Bridport, Burton Bradstock, Eype and West Bay!
Broadchurch returned to West Bay for it's 3rd series, filming in the late summer of 2016 (screened in 2017) with David Tennant's supposed home being the bungalow overlooking the beach, just a stone's throw from The Bridport Arms Hotel.
